Lesko Shows You Where To Get The Money…...
When You Are Strapped for CashI know it is difficult to seek help when you are coming to the end of your ropes. And you certainly don't have the time to investigate all 30,000 free money sources that are available in this country to pay for all kinds of life situations and bills. The list of sources below are the best sources I can think of that either offer immediate or point you to the help that can offer you immediate cash.
- Free Federal Help LocatorThe U.S. government has also set up a free service that will help you identify free government programs and services. They are called the Federal Information Center and you can contact them at 1-800-FED-INFO or see www.pueblo.gsa.gov/call
- Your Elected OfficialsRemember you have 2 U.S. Senators and one U.S. Congressman who have people on their staff that will help identify programs that might help you. You also have state and local elected officials who provide free services. Elected officials get re-elected by doing favors like this for people in their district. If they are able to help you, you will vote for them forever! You can find your elected official at www.congress.org
- Help Paying Your Rent Or MortgageThe Housing Counseling Center Locator (800-569-4287 or 800-217-6970) www.hud.gov/hsgcoun.html is usually a local non-profit organization that is set up to get you thru the difficult times paying your rent or mortgage.
- Rid Yourself Of Debt CollectorsLearn how you can stop bill collectors from calling you and even repair your own credit by getting free copies of "Fair Debt Collection", "Credit Repair: Self-Help May Be Best", "Fiscal Fitness: Choosing a Credit Counselor", at www.ftc.gov/bcp/menu-credit.htm
- Be Careful of Non-Profit Credit Counseling AgenciesThe so-called "non-profit" credit counseling business is booming, but so are their high fees and bad advice. Remember, they get their money from the credit card companies so they won't talk to you about bankruptcy. See what the Consumer Federation of America says http://www.consumerfed.org/ 040903ccreport.html. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the IRS are also looking into the Non-Profit Credit Counseling Business. See http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/10/ftcirs.htm
- Community Action AgenciesNearly 1,000 agencies around the country receive funds from the U.S. Government's Community Services Block Grants to offer education, counseling, employment, training, food packages, vouchers, weatherization and utility assistance, life skills assistance, affordable housing, transportation, furnishings, recreation, emergency services, information and referral services. To locate an agency serving your area, contact: Community Action Partnership, 1100 17th St., NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036; 202-265-7546; Fax: 202-265-8850; http://www.communityactionpartnership.com/
United WayThere are dozens and sometimes hundreds of local, small and large, non-profit organizations that offer emergency financial assistance. Contact your local United Way for local organizations that may help. http://national.unitedway.org/ The best book we have that does the work in identifying money available at the federal, state and local government for business is Free Money To Pay Your Bills. We've thoroughly researched all the places above and more and describe the best sources available. It's only $39.95 at www.howtogetagrant.com/grstarpaybills20. Remember that we offer a 90-day refund policy because we don't want you to have anything you are not comfortable with. I know it's a struggle to accomplish your goals in life and I hope I was able to provide some help
